10 Loading Hacks for Moving Overseas!

Hola from Peru!!
We have remained in Peru for 4 days now and we've already fallen in love with this nation and individuals. Your prayers are felt and God has actually already offered in fantastic methods. We will be in Lima for the next number of days, then we head to Cusco where we will be dealing with a Peruvian household for a month while we attend language school. At language school I, Devyn, will be continuing to learn Spanish, while Julian will learn Quechua, the indigenous language.

Anyways, as we were preparing to relocate to Peru and talking with individuals about moving to another country, we discovered that nearly everybody was curious to understand exactly HOW we were going to load for our relocation. So before we dove into how things are going here in Peru, we thought we 'd show y' all 10 hacks that we discovered in packaging to move overseas ... Delight in!
1. Start Packing EARLY & Do it in Phases.
Packing is overwhelming (I will be stating that a lot in this blog site haha) and if you resemble most of us, you have a great deal of stuff, so leaving it all for the eleventh hour will stress you out more. You may forget things or potentially take excessive. Julian and I started about 3 months ahead of time by getting rid of clothes and things we didn't require occasionally (many trips to Goodwill). And we likewise began buying trunks early since they can get pretty pricey so spreading that out helps. I also began posting advertisements early on Facebook to sell our furniture and from that we had pals purchase a lot of our things in advance to pick it up when we were all set to move. Also making a list of whatever that is in each trunk is something Julian and I forgot to do however is available in helpful when handling customs.

2. Take Pictures of Your Home
This is truly for the memories. The house we moved out was our first house together and it indicated a lot to us. So the photos are simply for us to bear in mind and possibly reveal our future family one day, to know where everything started.

3. Loading Cubes!!
I have been an advocate for loading cubes since my trip to El Salvador a year earlier. On that trip, I could only take a continue with me and had the ability to fit 2 weeks worth of clothing and toiletries!!! Needless to state we purchased as many of them as we could and were able to get most of my clothing into one travel suitcase. I will not lie, though packing cubes are excellent, loading all my clothes and attempting to make them all fit and not go over the 50-lb limit was INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT and triggered me lots of breakdowns haha (simply being sincere).

4. Discover Someone Who Lives/Has Lived Where You Are Going & Ask ANY & ALL Questions.
This is something a great deal of other individuals where telling us to do and honestly we didn't think it was that crucial ... initially. But a couple of months prior to leaving and becoming overwhelmed by not knowing what to load we reached out to another physician named Ari, who is in fact presently living in the apartment we will be moving into. She has actually genuinely been a God-send. I emailed Ari a minimum of 3 times a week till we moved here. I asked her anything to everything: from the size of the kitchen area racks to whether we needed to bring rain boots.

5. Toss a Packing Party!
Invite somebody over who is a master at Tetris, who has no problem informing you "you don't need that", and who can handle you being stressed. Our good friend Sandra was another God-send for us !! She came by (ON HER DAY OFF) and spent the whole day, going through our stuff, making the calls we could not make on what we must bring, donate, or store. She helped us pack everything in our trunks and assisted make it all fit without being over 50 pounds. THANK YOU SANDRA!!!

6. Find Out to Let Go ...
At the end of the day you are moving overseas and can not take everything with you and will have to release a lot ... A LOT of your things. For me it was shoes, for Julian ... he had this insane feature of keeping EVERY pen he owned because college. Hahha. Why idk, however with Sandra's help Julian is now free from his pen addiction. Hahah!

7. Bless Others with Your Stuff!
This was probably my preferred part about moving. Like I said previously, we took many journeys to Goodwill, but we also enabled our good friends to go through all of our things and let them take whatever they desired. It was actually cool to know that our things were entering into the houses of people we enjoy!!

8. Bring Things that You Will Miss!
In talking with Ari and other people that have actually done what we are doing like Julian's moms and dads, everybody stated the same thing, BRING The Important Things THAT YOU WILL MISS. For us, good bedding was really essential, likewise great knives, a couple of framed pictures of our family and friends, and PEANUT BUTTER (obviously peanut butter is not a thing in other nations)! So that's what we made sure to pack!

9. Relax and Take A 2nd ... Many Seconds ... to Make Fun Of Your Circumstance!!
As I have mentioned, packing is overwhelming. At any caliber it can honestly make or break you. Don't let it break you. Take a second to scream, acknowledge the chaos around you, and then just laugh because it is nuts. What you are trying to do is crazy: your home has never ever looked even worse, you are sleeping on a flooring, and taking a shower without a shower curtain while trying not to get too much water on the floor, eating in restaurants of the same bowl for each meal, and only have one good t-shirt considering that all the rest of your clothes are packed. You're not living your typical life and its frustrating, however if you take a look at a range, its also humorous, so LAUGH! hahhaha! Also leave your home, go check out the city you are leaving, meet up with pals, and enjoy yourself, that really assisted us when packing was dragging us down!

10. File the experience!
Its truly fun to recall now on just how much Julian and I carried out in such little time. Here are some images of our last couple of months in Houston!
